‘Is Design a Need’ was the brief for Beirut Design Week 2017. And so we went sideways exploring street design created by young Syrian refugees and called the exhibition ‘MAKE DO’

I always believed that design is not necessarily something you learn at art school, but rather the need to create a solution for a problem. During Beirut Design Week, when the brief was presented, I immediately set out with my team to areas in Beirut that are not ‘design’ related looking at rural design solutions produced by the every day laborers. The creativity was overwhelming with design solutions that were exhibition worthy.

By simply relocating and repositioning, we exhibited the trolleys at our Beirut studio that drew a crowd that would have never seen them.

We even made it on the cover of DAMN magazine!
