Hommos Cookbook
Hommos is a sensory celebration of Middle Eastern food culture, written by celebrated food stylist and writer Merijn Tol. The book elevates the iconic chickpea spread from a simple dip into an art form—featuring classic recipes, creative modern twists, and rich cultural stories.
Approached by Nijgh Cuisine, a specialized Dutch imprint focusing on publishing high-quality cookbooks, food culture stories, and culinary guides, to design their new book called Hommos.
The Design
The visual concept pairs nostalgia with a modern flair:
Bold Middle Eastern Pop Aesthetic: Merging vintage Arab graphics with vibrant contemporary styling.
Rich Color Palette: Sun-soaked hues inspired by Levantine spice markets and fresh ingredients.
Dynamic Layouts: Highlighting stunning food photography alongside expressive, modern typography.
