After seeing her work for the Harvey Nichols windows, Paul Smith was mesmerised with Rana’s take on contemporising Middle Eastern design and merging it with other unexpected concepts. He commissioned her to design the main illustration for the Paul Smith Spring/Summer 2000 show invitation; which was also used in the look-book and for the catwalk backdrop. Rana applied the techniques of Beirut street artists to her own graphic style, and used popping colours and a pastiche of Western and Eastern ephemera to create Paul Smith’s 2000 Spring/Summer world.
